Large Area Solar Illuminator (LASI)

Each large area solar illuminator (LASI) unit measures 0.5x0.5x1.6m and consists of a light source and beam homogeniser, as well as the power supply and necessary infrared filter to adjust to the solar spectrum.

Modular design allows for upgrades to larger target areas in the future by adding multiple LASI units with a gain of 0.5x0.5m with each add.

Sciencetech's large solar simulation systems could be incorporated into wind tunnels and climatic chambers used in the automotive and railway industries as well as the military and aerospace industry, reproducing the sun irradiance according to:

  • ASTM E927 - Specification for Solar Simulation for Photovoltaic Testing
  • IEC 60904-9 - Solar Simulator Performance Requirements
  • JIS C 8912 - Solar Simulators for Crystalline Solar Cells and Modules

These systems comply with the requirements of the following standards:

  • IEC 61215 - Crystalline Silicon Terrestrial Photovoltaic (PV) Modules - Design Qualification and Type Approval
  • IEC 61646 - Thin Film Terrestrial Photovoltaic (PV) Modules - Design Qualification and Type Approval

These systems also meet the US Military Standard MIL-STD810
