Tilt and Pulse Autocorrelator System

Tilt and Pulse Autocorrelator System

The Tilt and Pulse Autocorrelator (TiPA) System from Light Conversion is an invaluable tool for alignment of ultrashort pulse laser systems based on the chirped pulse amplification technique. Its unique design allows monitoring and measuring the pulse duration as well as the pulse front tilt in both vertical and horizontal planes.

TiPA is recommended to be used to measure pulse duration from the PHAROS system as well as from the TOPAS and ORPHEUS series of optical parametric amplifiers.

The operation of the TiPA is based on noncollinear second harmonic generation (SHG), where the spatial distribution of the second harmonic beam contains information on the temporal shape of the fundamental pulse. This technique combines low background and single-shot measurement capability. In single shot mode one can monitor the elliptical pattern of the second harmonic beam in which the width is proportional to incident pulse duration. If pulses have a tilted wavefront, the ellipse of the second harmonic beam is tilted with reference to the plane of pulse polarisation.
